What is Pottermore?

Friday, June 17, 2011

J.K. Rowling has just launched a new website called Pottermore, with no real hints as to what the site is going to be. Rowling has said that it won't be a new Harry Potter book but it could be ANYTHING else! What do you think it might be?  Whatever it is, Potter fans are bound to be happy about it!

Here's a little something to watch while we wait for Rowling's big reveal...The official site for HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 2 in theaters July 15.

It's about to start....

My Dad’s A Birdman by David Almond
Lizzie more or less has to take care of her father since her Mom died. One day her Dad is acting a bit more strange than usual, so she stays back from school to keep an eye on him. He is eating worms and acting like a bird! Her dad is getting all excited about these giant wings he has created out of feathers. Lizzie learns that he has signed up for a contest to see if he can fly. Auntie Doreen stops by to check on them and she is even more concerned about the way he is acting and tries to take Lizzie away. Read on to be entertained with this short book. The audio book is delightful. Kristin (J Fiction)

School of Fear by Gitty Daneshvari
Madeline, Theo, Lulu and Garrison are all very afraid. Madeline has an intense fear of insects and spiders, living her life under a veil and wearing a belt of repellent cans. Theo is scared of dying (himself and those around him.) Lulu is terribly claustrophobic and Garrison CAN’T be near deep water. In a desperate effort to rid themselves of their crippling phobias, the four children head to the School of Fear. However, the headmistress, Mrs. Wellington, seems more interested in training the students to become beauty queens, than to overcome their fears. This school is definitely strange and the kids want OUT.  This could be the scariest summer of their lives! Meghan (J Fiction)
